Data set series Michael Lutz 44th MIG-T meeting, Ispra 30-31 October 2017

Data set series – Definition Collection of datasets that share the same product specification [ISO 19115:2003]

Current uses of data set series Members have different spatial extent (e.g. map sheets, ortho-images, regional data sets) Members have different temporal extent (time series) Members have different thematic scope – the series represents a theme e.g. different object types of an INSPIRE theme not strictly a series according to ISO definition

Discussion Pros and cons of using data set series for data providers for data users How should the geoportal support data set series? Do we need additional guidance / best practices at EU level?
