A Cooperative Effort to Repair Flood Damaged FP Sites Bobby Wilson Navarro Co. SWCD #514
The Storm June 9, 2010 – Navarro Co. - A storm system stalled-out and dumped 15-18” of rain into the Richland Creek Watershed near the community of Dawson. Although the storm lasted 12 hours, most of the rain fell within the last 6 hours.
The Next Morning Navarro Co. Emergency Management personnel were aware of the flooding. TCEQ Dam Safety office was contacted.
Inspecting the Damage A DPS helicopter was sent for NRCS officials to inspect dams within the watershed. 13 of the districts FP dams had been overtopped by floodwaters. 3 FP dams had received major damage.

Richland Creek Site 110 Floodwaters over-topped dam and caused 3 large washouts on the backslope. Emergency spillway was left with heavy rilling.

Richland Creek Site 31 Floodwaters over-topped dam but only damaged the emergency spillway. Damage was caused by cattle trailing in emergency spillway. Gully came within 15-20 ft of the control section.
