Antoine dynasty ended with the death of Commodus Overview of Late Roman Empire Antoine dynasty ended with the death of Commodus Severans ruled until the murder of Severan Alexander Order was restored by Diocletian when he was proclaimed as emperor by his troops. The empire was divided into four regions known as the tetrarchy. Tetrarchy- a government by four persons ruling jointly.
