Persecution is most severe for those who convert from Islam. The law punishes a convert from Islam by death if that person does not recant their new faith within three days. Becoming a Christian means more than just social rejection – believers lose their status and their citizenship.

PRAY FOR OUR PERSECUTED FAMILY Pray for strength and protection for those in Mauritania who are imprisoned or on death row, because of their faith. Pray that Christians will be welcomed into communities and allowed access to their basic needs like water, food and clothing.
