History And Development Of Computer
The computer era is divided into three ages; Dark age Middle age Modern age
Devices Used in Dark age All computing devices of dark age are mechanical devices. ABACUS : About 5000 years ago ,it is invented in China and early marchants used the Abacus to keep trading transactions.
Napier Bones Napier Bones were invented by John Napier. This device is consisted on eleven bones or rods with numbers.
Slide Rule An English Mathematician William Outhered created the slide rule which is based on Napier’s logarithms.
Pascaline OR pascal’s calculator It is invented by Blaise Pascal. It is consisted on a brass rectangular box, used eight movable dials to add numbers up to eight figures long.
Leibniz’s calculator Gottfried Wilhem von Leibniz improved the Pascaline by creating a machine that could also multiply. It worked by a system of gears and dials.
ARITHOMETER Charles Xavier Thomas de Colmar invented a machine that could perform four Basic arithmetic operations. It presenting a more practical approach with its enhanced verstality.
Devices Used in Middle Age These devices are powered by steam. They would stored program ,could perform calculations and print the results. They also had the storage capacity.
Babbage’s Difference Engine Charles Babbage , father of Computer, noticed a natural connection between the machine and the mathematics. In 1822 , he proposed a machine to perform differential equation, called a Difference Engine.
Babbage’s Analytical Engine
Hollerith’s Tabulating Machine
MODERN AGE When Computer technology and Ideology was improved and the period was turned as Modern Age. The computer of this age are categorize in five generations.
