Presentation transcript:

Religious Attitudes to Prejudice Aim: Understand how different religions view prejudice Key Words Equality – People should be given the same rights and opportunities regardless of sex, religion, race. Etc Inequality – when equality doesn't happen

Are we an intolerant society?

Living by Tolerance Tolerance is accepting all people and valuing their contribution to life and society People should be allowed to keep their own beliefs, practices and ways of life as long as they do not harm others or break the law. It doesn't mean agreeing with them, instead it is respecting their view. Are there limits to tolerance?

Living Justly All religions teach that people are equal All people have value and worth and equal human rights. People should be treated with justice, fairly and according to the law

Living in Harmony It requires people to act justly and have tolerance and understanding for others. Religions have a sense of community Practising kindness, compassion and generosity within their community will lead to greater harmony
