Homework Homework Folder Contents Reading log – to be signed nightly Homework is given out on the first school day of the week and collected on the last school day of the week. There will be reading (every night ), spelling ( most nights ). Homework should not take longer than 20 Minutes. Homework Folder Contents Reading log – to be signed nightly A book to be read Spelling activity (located in duotang) Math to be solved

Nightly Homework Reading Spelling If you find your child struggling put a note in the reading log. If your child gets stuck on a tricky word or name just give it to them. Don’t have them struggle. Spelling Help your child study the unit words for the test on the last day of the week Getting your child to write the words helps, as this is what he/she will be asked to do in school. When doing sentences let your child spell the words the way he/she hears them. I don’t expect all of the words to be spelled correctly. The spelling words should be spelled correctly, as that is the goal.

Food Allergies! Nuts (peanuts, almonds, tree nuts) Kiwi *Please refrain from sending treats for special occasions.

Lunch Orders Lunch orders are to be submitted on-line. Lunch orders need to be paid by 3pm, the Friday prior. All milk needs to be ordered online. Please send in reusable cutlery, the school will no longer be providing plastic. You are able to cancel your child’s lunch order up until 8 o’clock the morning of. If they’re sick this will give you a credit on your account.

Lunches Please ensure that your child has all of the utensils he/she will need for snack and lunch. Microwaves are not available for student use. Please ensure that you are packing healthy snacks and lunches for your child, as it is a regular topic of discussion in the grade 2 health program.

Early Arrival Children who are being driven to school should not arrive before 8:05a.m., as there is no one on duty to supervise them. *If your child is arriving around 8:05 a.m., he/she should walk along the sidewalk and go in the door designated for his/her class. -Please do not park in the drop off lane. If you are walking your child into the school please park in the parking lot.

Breakfast Program Begins on Monday and is for those who want to make use of it. Provides juice, toast, and/or apple slices Children who are making use of the breakfast program are sent down to the multipurpose room as soon as they come in the morning. The breakfast program is always looking for volunteers to help out from around 8:00 a.m. until 8:45 a.m. (check with the office ) Donations are also accepted (please call the office to see what items we are in need of) If school is ever delayed an hour, the breakfast program will not run.

Clothing Please label all clothing! As the weather changes please ensure children are dressed appropriately as they will be going outside at recess unless it is raining. Many parents find it helpful to send in a bag with extra clothing that can be left at school (An extra pair of pants, a shirt, underwear and socks) for emergencies. During wet winter months children will often go through a couple of pairs of socks in a day and a couple of pairs of mittens. Please ensure your child has extra, so that their feet and hands can remain dry during the day. Please send one SOCK (to erase whiteboards)

Notes! Call the school to let us know if your child is going to be absent. We are asked to keep track of those who are out with flu like symptoms. Please send in a note if there is going to be any change to your child’s daily routine. (bus change, being picked up, etc.) Please remember to include your child’s full name and class on the note. Please inform your child of the change so they know to give the teacher the note

Early School Closure Every child must have a bus number as part of their early school closure plan for emergencies. Please make sure this form is completed and returned to school as soon as possible. Please let the office know if your early school closure plan changes during the year.

Speaking French The students are expected to speak French most of the time. They are encouraged to use French words they know in order to describe an item they don’t know the French word for. They are encouraged to take risks, and that mistakes help us learn and grow.

Home and School We are always looking for new volunteers.

School Supplies Thank you to those who sent in school supplies. If you haven’t already done so, please send in $2 for the homework bag.
