Songwriting Session one

Structure Think about the type of structure/form you song is going to have. Binary (AB) Ternary (ABA) Rondo (ABACADA) Theme and Variation (ABA2B2) Sonata form Most common pop songs follow a structure such as this: Verse, Chorus, Verse, Chorus, Bridge/Middle 8, Chorus Work on a rough visual structure for your song.

Texture Simply put, texture is the amount of instruments playing at the same time within a song. Monophonic – a single melodic line with no accompaniment Polyphonic – several melodic lines, which are to some respect independent Homophonic – multiple voices in which one, the melody, stands out and the others form a background harmony (most common texture). Hetrophonic - two or more voices simultaneously performing variations of the same melody.
