History of the Irish Language presentation was made by Varinova Anastasia 2 year of applied informatics Plekhanov Russian University of Economics 2017

The history of the Irish language allows us to distinguish four periods of its existence: Goidel (until the middle of the 6th century) Old Irish (the middle of the 6th century to the middle of the 10th century) Middle Irish (10th century - the middle of the 13th century) New Irish (middle of the 13th century - present)

Currently, the Irish language is underutilized Currently, the Irish language is underutilized. Only a very small part of the population of Ireland can speak purely in Irish.

At present, the Irish government is trying to popularize the Irish language. Examples such as an all- Irish TV channel (TG4), music, Irish speaking toys, books, internet courses and more.

Children learn Irish in a school setting, and rarely use Irish at home or in the company of friends. Unfortunately, adults generally are not equipped to converse with their children in Irish, so learning it naturally is difficult. A lot of teenagers will spend time in the Gaeltacht areas of the country, living with Irish speaking families, and immersing themselves completely in Irish culture
