BACKGROUND

Location Map

Camp John Hay….. A 690 ha former rest and recreational facility for the employees of the Dept. of Defense of the United States Since July 1991 the Philippine Government, Bases Conversion Development Authority (BCDA), manages the camp A major tourist attraction in Baguio City

Current status BCDA leased out 247 hectares as Camp John Hay Special Economic Zone to Camp John Hay Development Corporation The land is developed and used as: Golf course- 48.43 ha (19.6%) Forest areas- 121.18 ha (49.1%) Built-up area- 77.38 ha (31.3%)

Areas of Concern Land degradation such as soil creeping and erosion Ecological retrogression at Benguet Pine Forest limiting its capacity to regenerate and increase biodiversity Deteriorating facilities at the camp
