Age Profile / Demographics During 2016, the West Glasgow MIU had 11,200 attendances. The total number of attendances from the West ‘catchment area’ in all of the MIU/A&E facilities was 41,700.. The age profile is broadly similar with the main difference being the under 16 years. Analysis of transfers from West MIU to other facilities during 2016 was 6% of total attendances. 439 went to the QEUH, 210 went to the RHC, small number went to GRI. 9

A comparison of the flow of patients associated with the catchment populations for other MIUs shows: For patients within the post code areas of the New Victoria catchment: 45% chose to use an alternative A&E/MIU to the New Victoria MIU For patients within the post code areas of Stobhill Hospital catchment: 48% chose to use an alternative A&E/MIU to the Stobhill MIU This compares to the experience of the West MIU: 78% choosing an alternative A&E/MIU
