WEB 2.0 OPTIONS: BLOGS, WIKIS, PODCASTS

WEB 2.0 OPTIONS: BLOGS, WIKIS, PODCASTS (CONTINUED) WIKIS : collaborative websites where users can edit and use information Wiki list link: http://webtrends.about.com/od/wikilists/tp/list_of_wiki_sites.htm There are wikis for all types of interests and subjects. If you use information from a wiki, you need to verify or establish the credibility. SEE OUR LIBRARY WIKISPACES PAGE: http://rockvillelmc.wikispaces.com/ Wikispaces

PODCASTS: Commercial and home-grown The name "podcast" combines the terms iPod and broadcast into a single catchy word. As the name suggests, podcasts are audio and video broadcasts that can be played on an iPod. However, because podcasts are downloaded using Apple iTunes and can be played directly within the program, you don't actually need an iPod to listen to a podcast. (definition from :http://www.techterms.com/definition/podcast

BE INFORMATION LITERATE! REMEMBER Student Search Engines and Educational Directories and Databases are BEST for RESEARCH Always use GENERAL or Commercial Search Engines as a last resort.  Use Student Start Pages and teacher recommended bookmarks first.  Try general reference information on the Internet. Go to Web start pages: rockvillelmc.wikispaces.com or http://www.iconn.org Check the source of the information that you find:  Who posted this information?  Is this a reliable source?  Is this a biased source?  Is this site trying to sell you something? Confirm information found on this page with another source on or off the Internet.   Use simple key words for searching educational Directories.  Use search tricks such as quote marks for phrases, AND, OR and NOT, when using search engines that recognize these. Always use more than one search engine or directory. Write down the Web address so you can credit the source information in your work. If you find an inappropriate site, click BACK and notify an adult.

Watch a few YOU TUBE videos on how to use NOODLETOOLS (there are links on the NOODLETOOLS website as you proceed. On how to share your project with your teachers for feedback or submission http://youtu.be/fKwURNRl1cM On how to share or collaborate: http://youtu.be/l3gdYmrwiR4
