Meters Web Innovations 2017

Why do we user Meters? Thermometer Electricity Odometer Process Status The process of measuring and collecting different variables from our processes. Difference bt an Instrument and a Meter: The meter is a instrument applied to a process Process Status -Lights

Why do we need meters? Identify process inconsistencies, malfunctioning equipment Automatically trigger PMs

Why do we need meters? Measurement is one of the first steps towards effective management, and defining customer behaviors Unusual activity on 20 and 15, Odometer: Changed drivers?

Meter Types Thermometer Increasing Variable Accumulated Electricity Odometer Increasing: always going up, unless it reaches it’s peak: rollover Variable: up-down Predefined: Custom values defined to control a process, automation Accumulated: You keep track of the inputs not the outputs, always accumulating Predefined Increasing Predefined Increasing

Walkthrough: Champs Meters Enter Readings This window calculates all variables related to a Meter like it’s current and life-to-date value. Allows us to enter readings, without entering the Meter edit page. Life-to-date values are calculated based on the Meter type Different Types: Accumulated Increasing Predefined Variable LTD Values Based on reading type: Increasing: current + rollovers Accumulated= Sum(readings) Predefined & variable = 0

Meter edit page: Reading History New Chart: Thresholds Reading history Dates UOM For Web we have a new chart that was not present in CS. It shows all the Reading History overtime with dates on the X axis and Units on the Y axis. It was also built to show the defined high and low thresholds for the meters. Useful to monitor process behavior and detect special situations with an equipment like rollovers and swap-outs. Reading History: Detects Rollover in reading

Detecting Rollovers: current < prev Only for increasing Meter-types. When current value is less than the previous value it means that a rollover has occurred. As it can be a user mistake when entering the data, it asks for confirmation before recording the reading.

Meter edit page: Validation 4 different windows depending on the meter's reading type Thresholds Rollover accounts for total calculation Validation window is dynamic depending on the Meter type. While for all meters it will display the High, Median and Low value, Fields like the Rollover value only apply to Increasing Meter types. This is the place where we link a validation formula to a Meter. Validation formulas can be customized by the end-user. Reference to validation Formula

Meter edit page: Validation Types Accumulated Variable Missing Rollover value None of these have Rollover value. Variable Meters don’t have Total to Date calculations Rollover value Total To Date

Validation Values: Predefined Static Values No validation Formula

Meter edit page: Location If the meter is associated to an equipment Id with a defined location (selected on the Meter Details tab), location information will displayed from the equipment record. Display only window as a reference to the Equipment related to the meter. (With the exception of the Meter Location field, the fields are display only)

Meter edit page: Assets Allows multiple Equipment to be associated with the Meter Value that the meter had when it was relocated to this new equipment. For example we can have a Fuel Tank Meter that feeds 3 different generators. When we link a new equipment to a Meter we’re asked for the Meter’s initial value, WO Current meter this equipment is being associated with

Meter edit page: PMs Allows you to view all PMs associated to a meter As we saw earlier, one of the main purpose of Meters is that they can be used to trigger PM whenever a certain condition is met. This tab shows the different cross-references a Meter has to PM and the values that triggers them.

Meter Routes Enter Readings Finally, Meter Routes are our way of defining a sequence to collect readings from all the different Meters. We can define a route for the person that collects the readings and he can use this interface from a mobile device to enter the data one after the other. Enter Readings

Hands-On Locate the <Infrared Thermometer Gun> Meter Create the following validation rule for the Meter Current>Previous + 2 °F Msg: “The value you’re entering is higher than usual.” Point the Meter to the AC vent, take and enter the reading. Point the Meter to a wall of the room, Take and enter the reading. Did the value change? Did the validation Msg trigger the warming?

Hands-On 3. Setup a Trigger on a PM for the predefined Meter: “Production line #1” when it Stops operations trigger PM #1

Conclusions Meters are used to register events and detect inconsistencies Trigger PMs Different types of Meters Increasing Accumulative Variable Predefined Meter readings can be validated before saving them. Validations are based on custom formulas
