Grains Nobles La Sorbonne Civilisation of Wine

Who are you ? Founded more than 25 years ago by 2 journalists of wine Michel Bettane and Bernard Burtschy, Grains Nobles the tasting school is located in the heart of Paris, in the Latin Quarter between the university of La Sorbonne and Cathedral Notre-Dame. The school receives the most famous wineries of the world such as the Domain of Romanée-Conti, Château Yquem, Cheval Blanc.

PHILOSOPHY « Civilisation of Wine » is dedicated to all those who want to be initiated to the world of wine from vine to table.

PURPOSE This training has two objectives: To provide the necessary foundation to acquire a good general knowledge of the world of wine Learn how to taste wine, allow to judge the quality of a wine as well as describing it

PARTICIPANTS This training is for all those who are curious about wine and want to have a closer look behind the label. The classes are taught in English.

THE DIPLOMA To be eligible for the final exam, the student is required to have completed all courses for which he is registered. The exam consist of three parts: Q&A Open Questions Blind tasting & description of the wines The Diploma is obtained if the student obtains a minimum score <70%: fail 70 – 79%: pass 80 – 89%: pass with merit 90 – 100%: distinction

THE REALITY OF WINE Wine is much more than just a bottle bought in the supermarket or at your favorite wine shop. It is primarily an agricultural product, cultural, multiple, firmly rooted in the earth and in the gesture of the men who produce it. The reality of wine takes into account each step of wine production by putting it into perspective with the finished product.

Module V The most important wine regions of France Each wine-producing region has its own identity, creating a great diversity in styles available on the international market. This identity is based on history, geology, geography, climate, classification systems (terroir and/or domain), the diverse cultural interpretations of viticulture and vinification processes.

TERMS & CONDITIONS Name of training: CIVILIZATION OF WINE Registration fee: Your application will be notified by return email and confirmed upon receipt of the payment of the full registration fee. The payment has to be sent to the following address, Ref. letter of conditional acceptance (address & bank details). Terms of Sales Registration means full acceptance of our Terms of Sale. Registration: To be accepted, the participant must receive a written confirmation. Participants who don’t show up for the classes fully lose their paid registration fee. Report: It is possible to postpone a reservation under the following conditions: The deferral request will be accepted only if it is notified in writing 14 business days prior to the training. All deferral requests done between the 13th working day and the day before the start of the session result in a penalty of 1,000.00 €. The participant who deferred but do not show up not at the new course session entirely loses the paid registration fee.
