Maplewood Known as one of the shopping meccas of St. Louis County Maplewood's downtown business district bustled with commercial activity from the 1940's to 1960's. The City of Maplewood formed the Maplewood Special Business District 30 years ago to revitalize the area. Funding from the businesses and building owners is pooled and used to make improvements. The funds cover events, marketing , capital improvements, etc.

A team effort: businesses and city officials Fostering business development streamlining the municipal process for businesses. Offering services; not just incentives. Protecting developing areas through code enforcement. Creating and stabilizing districts through zoning. Public Relations: not just attracting new businesses but developing existing. Residential development is part of the formula.
