The Volkswagen emissions scandal Volkswagen has been cheating in emission tests by making its cars appear far less polluting than they are. The US Environmental Protection Agency discovered that 482,000 VW diesel cars on American roads were emitting up to 40 times more toxic fumes than permitted - and VW has since admitted the cheat affects 11m cars worldwide.

Napier PV electricity generation from April 6th, 2005 to April 6th, 2015 (10 years) was 70MWh. Annual average generation = 7MWh. A typical daily commuting return journey of 16 miles in Renault, Zoe e-car required 2kWh (576kWh/annum). A dozen cars can be charged by Napier solar-PV facility.
