Physics 11 Mr. Jean May 3rd, 2012
The plan: Video clip of the day Pendulum Conservation of energy question Science Fair etc…
Pendulum Motion: http://www.brightstorm.com/science/physics/oscillatory-motion/pendulum-motion/
Conservation of Energy: m x x=0 Etotal = 1/2 mv2 + 1/2 kx2 = constant KE PE
Conservation of Energy with springs: Example #1: A shopping cart with a student sitting in it has a mass of 80kg. It travels along a flat level low-friction surface (assume none!) and collides head on with a spring. The spring has a spring constant of 15500N/m. If the spring is compressed by 6 meters how fast was the cart travelling?
To do: 1) Spring constant Lab 2) Science Fair 3) Chapter #6 Pre-test 4) Conservation of energy worksheet
