What is it? Developed by Kenneth Blanchard It happens when the leader has to adjust his leadership style based on the situation and need The leader adjusts style to fit the needs of the people he or she is influencing It could be task or relashionship oriented, or both

Blanchard leadership model

Example: The 33 Based on a true story, 33 chilean mine workers get stuck in a mine many feet below ground in extreme conditions (extensive heat with minimal food and water) for 69 days.
