Accelerated Middle School Incoming Parent Night May 10, 2017

Mission Goal We will provide an individualized education for our students based upon placement exams where students are exposed to accelerated curriculum in Mathematics Foreign Language Science Pre – AP English Pre – AP Social Studies STEM Electives

Security Supervised at all times Security guards radio movement Released before the bells Not mixed with High School population AMS bathrooms Escort for signed out students

Starting the Day Three bus routes using Depots – Look at population Drop-off in the morning – 7:00 to 7:25 – See Map location East Side – Be early Meeting in the Cafeteria – Security Collect and go to 1st period together Instrument drop off in classrooms

Classes for 7th and 8th Grade Elective Wheel 6th or 7th period 4th period – Fine Arts/PE Alternating Lunch after 5th period Language and core classes

Classes for 6th Grade 1st period – Elective wheel 2nd through 7th period Language and Core classes Lunch after 5th period 4th period – Fine Art , PE Alternating Primarily in H building

Elective Wheels and Fine Arts/PE 6th grade: Ac Prep, Speech, Engineering, Art 7th grade: Speech, Java, Engineering, Art 8th grade: Digital Photo, Speech, Engineering, MMF Fine Arts and PE on a Day 1, Day 2 rotation Two levels of each Fine Art Possible 4th Fine Art – Creative Musician

Lunch Between 5th and 6th periods – 12:30 to 1:15 Snack during AM classes 43 minutes Supervised – Mrs. Cook, Security Choices similar to high school Lunch accounts – may use myschoolbucks.com

Ending the Day 3:15 release bell Pickup – see map – on the loop off of Riggs Buses in front of Front Office Late pickup – students go to public library as a group

Dress Code Hunter green or white polo Khaki bottoms – pants, skirts, shorts Shorts and skirts must come to the fingertips Friday – Spirit shirts and denim Target.com or JC Penney’s PE Uniform – purchase during Bear Down

Extra Activities Clubs, NJHS, Running, Yearbook Spirit weeks and assemblies Dances Student Council – Elections in August Field Trips Spelling Bee, Battle of the Books 6th grade Science Camp

Bear Down Days July 18th from 2:00 – 5:00 Get your schedule Get your photo taken for ID’s Tours by NJHS Buy PE Uniform Buy a Yearbook! Buy a spirit shirt that night! SEE YOU IN JULY!!!!!
