Weather in Salt Lake City By: Thomas Williams, and Carter Northcutt

Does the date of the first freeze in SLC predict more snowfall for that year? The Question

We chose this idea because we have been getting a lot of snow here in Utah. We think that more snow falls when there is an earlier freeze. Assumption

Data

Graph of Data

There is no correlation between the average date of the first freeze, and the amount of snow that we receive that season. In the graph, the R squared value was significantly different from the first freeze dates, and the amount of snowfall that came afterward. This further indicates that there is no correlation between the first freeze, and the snowfall amount.
