Who were The Romans?

Starter: Write down two things that you KNOW about the Romans and two questions you'd like to have answered about the Romans. 1 2

Learning objectives: To find out who the Romans were and where they ruled Decide and explain what you think was most important thing the Roman Empire invented that we still use today.

The Romans were one of the most powerful, clever and successful ancient civilizations ever. They ruled over nearly all of Europe and most of north Africa, including Egypt. If you counted all the modern countries that would have been in the Roman Empire, then you would be counting 48 different countries ruled by the Romans. The Roman Empire lasted for over 1000 years. Ancient Rome; 753 BCE – 450 AD

Your task is to draw and colour accurately a map of the Roman Empire on a blank map of Europe. Put a map key in the corner. Extension 1 – using an atlas of Europe, identify and name on your Roman Empire map as many countries as you can that were under the rule of the Romans. Extension 2 – Think of and write down 3 things on the Romans that you want to find out more about. ROME ROMAN EMPIRE
