Search Engines LESSON 1-3

Objectives The student will: Perform searches and explain how to refine a search to retrieve better information Identify resources for finding information in addition to ranking based search engines Differentiate between ranking based search engines and social bookmarking (collaborative) search engines. Use a variety of Web 2.0 applications Develop and use a rubric to evaluate websites

Journal Entry List at least three ways in which you currently use the internet Share your responses with your elbow partner 5 minutes

Internet Scavenger Hunt In your groups… Have one person click on the link on the homework section for today. Click on File -> Make a copy Share your copy of the file the members of your team. Have all team members open the file. All team members should also open the Lesson 1-3 – Web resources.doc from the homework section. 25 minutes

Internet Scavenger Hunt In your groups… You have 25 minutes to find all the items on internet scavenger hunt list. In your Google Doc file list: The information or item requested. The web site in which you found it The steps you took to find each item. Who found it 25 minutes
