Students who attend Jump Start … Jumpstart Orientation program Jump Start is UBC’s first year Orientation that takes place the week before classes being. It is available to all first year students, both domestic and international, on both UBC campuses We know making friends in the first week of school matters – research shows that students who report they made friends in their first week are more likely to succeed academically in their first year We know learning communities matter. In Jump Start, students are connected in with a professor in small groups of 25 with upper year students from their Faculty and learn what it’s like to learn in a university classroom, how to build relationships with profs and strategies for approaching their transition to academic learning in their first year. Available to commuter students in the LM googling Jump Start UBC or visiting students.ubc.ca Students who attend Jump Start … Make new friends Learn how to learn at UBC Explore their new home
