Agenda Welcome and Introductions Host Welcome New Member Introductions Quantum Research International New Member Introductions SMDWG Charter Why the SMDWG exists

Space and Missile Defense Working Group (SMDWG) Charter Background The SMDWG is formed to respond to our civic responsibility to assist in the decision making process on issues pertaining to space and ballistic missile defense. Scope The Scope of the SMDWG is to Educate the general population and elected representation on space and ballistic missile defense. Membership Membership is open to all individuals in government, industry, and the community. SMDWG members must belong to the NDIA or an affiliate.

Les Johnson Les is a physicist, a science and science fiction author, and a NASA technologist. His science fiction books include Back to the Moon, Rescue Mode, and his latest, On to the Asteroid. His popular science books include Solar Sails - A Novel Approach to Interplanetary Travel and Sky Alert: When Satellites Fail. He is the Technical Assistant for the Advanced Concepts Office at the George C. Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, Alabama where he serves as the Principal Investigator for the Near Earth Asteroid Scout solar sail mission. Les is a member of the AIAA, The British Interplanetary Society, The National Space Society and MENSA. He is a 30-year resident of Madison, AL and is originally from Kentucky. Dr. Travis Taylor Dr. Taylor is a licensed Professional Engineer who holds PhD.s in Optical Science and Engineering, Aerospace Systems Engineering, as well as Master’s degrees in Physics, Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering, and Astronomy, and a Bachelors in Electrical Engineering. Having worked on various programs for the Department of Defense and NASA for the past twenty-five years, recent projects include advanced propulsion concepts, space telescopes, space based beamed energy systems, future combat technologies and systems and next generation space launch concepts. He has published over 25 papers, two textbooks and has authored or coauthored over sixteen bestselling science fiction books.

Dr. Travis Taylor His penchant for experiments and inventiveness have been captured in hit shows such as Rocket City Rednecks and 3 Scientists Walk Into a Bar.  He has several other television productions and movie projects in the works. He is a member of the American Institute for Aeronautics and Astronautics, The World Space Drive Consortium, The Directed Energy Professional Society, and the International High IQ Society.
