FORCES A force is a push or a pull on an object. Every force has strength, magnitude and direction. Forces acting on a stationary object can set the object.
Forces and Motion. Force A Force is a push or pull on an object. Forces have a direction. Forces have a strength (magnitude) and are measured in Newtons.

Forces: Balanced, Unbalanced, and Net Force Mrs. Gergel and Ms. Khericha

What is force? How do we measure it? A force is a push or a pull on an object. Arrows called vectors show a force’s Magnitude (strength) Direction

Net Force Net force is all of the forces acting on an object.

How to find Net Force To find net force: If the forces are in opposite directions, find the difference between them (Subtract the smaller number from the larger number). 4N 2N Net force: ________

How to find Net Force Net Force: ______ If the forces are in the same direction, add them. 4N 4N Net Force: ______

Balanced and Unbalanced Forces If the net force is zero, the forces are balanced and no change in speed or direction will occur. 3N 3N Net Force:

Balanced and Unbalanced Forces If the net force is greater than zero, the forces are unbalanced and the speed or direction will change in the direction of the net force. 3N 5N Net Force: What direction?

Practice Balanced or unbalanced? Who is going to get hit by the ball?

Practice 5 N 5 N Balanced or unbalanced? Will it move?

Practice Balanced or unbalanced? Which direction will it move in?
