Jump Cutting is.. an abrupt change from one shot, scene, or sequence to another, caused by the absence of transitional action, effects

Where is it from? George Méliès created the jump cut on accident, he then went on to use it to simulate magic tricks. The French, specifically Jean-Luc Godard , stimulated the contemporary use of the jump cut in the 1950s and 60s.
