The Solution-According to King George III Tried to end the fighting between Native Americans and the colonists. In 1763, he made a proclamation, or public announcement.

What the Proclamation Meant

Complete the Map on the Worksheet Trace the line of proclamation in red. Color the colonies blue Color “Indian territory” green Answer questions 4-7 using the map

More Reactions! Colonists King George III Most ignored the Proclamation Act because they felt they were entitled to the land they had won for the British. Sent British troops to help the colonists Had to pay for the war Passed the Quartering Act

Reflection Questions How did the colonists react to the Proclamation of 1763? Even though, King George III saw the Proclamation as a solution to the conflict, in reality was it? Why or Why not? How did this conflict and proclamation affect the British? How did King George address this effect? How are he colonists going to react to King George’s “solution”? If the colonists would have honored the Proclamation of 1763, how might relations between the colonists and Native Americans have been different? Why is this important?
