The purpose There are a lot of different ways how to achieve your goal to improve your English skills. All of us use a different form of learning. This process should be joyful.

Orientation through book a lot of different ways or tools to practice English best way to improve your language skills is to practice on a daily basis two additional sublines at the end of each chapter similar to John Stepper's Working Out Loud to with a practical orientation. "grammar issues" and an "exercise" finishing each chapter

Find a language guide that you like Find a language guide that you like. It might be a book, a leaflet, YouTube channel, a series of lectures or anything else that helps you improve. Talk to a friend about it and share what you have learned. Start a learning diary where you record your mistakes, but also what you’ve learned. Use examples! You can follow your improvements over the course of a few months and look back at how far you’ve come!

Talk and write with natives To avoid Germanism the best thing is to talk with natives speakers and learn to listen carefully to their way of phrasing. Ask them for feedback on your way of expressing. Grammar Issue: Irregular verbs Exercise: APP Tandem

Watch your favorite TV-show in English Taking breaks while learning is an important part of being a student. But why not use the time you spend relaxing to also practice your language skills Watching shows and movies with subtitles doubles as a listening exercise

Output Grammar Issue: correct use of“Who, what, that“ Exercise: Watch your next movie in English

Sing Karaoke and quiz yourself One great way to improve your English skills is to listen to music and sing along. Before you start singing your favourite songs out loud you should ask yourself, if you really know the lyrics

Grammar Issue: Pronouns Exercises: http://www.songtexte.com https://lyricstraining.com/ where you can playfully quiz yourself and find out how much you really know about the lyrics

Try out alternative tools Do you want to extend your vocabulary? Learning words by heart is not your favorite method? http://www.schieb-das-schaf.de/ Grammar issue: use the correct word Exercise: finding your own associations

Read books and magazines in English Reading helps you to improve a language. By reading you learn how grammar and words are used. If you do not know the meaning of a word, do not look it up instantly. First, try to understand the word from the context of in the sentence.

Grammar Issue: correct usage of words Exercises: Start with books that are easy to read buy a book that you like in Englisch and buy the audio version on audible, too

Sing nursery rhymes with children Nursery rhymes are simple to understand and full of grammar Grammar issue: Preposition Exercise: Listen and sing to the incy wincy spider song and do gymnastics beside

Listen to podcasts A wide range of podcasts on languages and culture are available. Many of them for learners of English and some to explicitly improve language proficiency To get started, all you need is an app that helps you download and organize them

Grammar Issue: Comparison Exercise: Use the podcast application on your smartphone Stitcher, Apple Music and the Podcast Republic channels, like Learn English, the BBC’s The English We Speak or Coffee Break English

Install a training APP on your mobile Studying can be difficult when you are always on the go. Apps like Duolingo, Memrise, and Busuu offer free lessons to improve your language proficiency. You can sign up for free and join a network of other language learners.

Grammar Issue: Apostrophs Exercises: Flash cards, like Anki or Quizlet, help you remember difficult vocabulary and remind you to keep practicing. Another useful app to help you practice is Grammarly. You can install it directly into your browser to correct your grammar and spelling. It shows you the changes you could make and helps you write.

Play games in English You can play basic board games with your friends in English or if you want to play something during a lunch break or on the weekends Playing computer games or console - change the language of your game in the settings. Most of the games have this option "language setting" somewhere in your system settings.

Grammar Issue: Adjektives and Adverbs Exercises: Invite your friends and play sharades Visit https://www.gamestolearnenglish.com/ and start playing

Your mind –your friend or foe a few psychological points that you should keep in mind as well 1. Don’t translate everything 2. Don’t be afraid 3. Don’t overthink it

Exercise: Talk without thinking, just talk and record your voice. Keep your records for a while. You'll notice your improvements in pronunciation and grammar. After a while just talk in real conversations. Do not think about the consequences, people are aware of the fact that you are not a native and they will be surprised about your improvement and courage.

Create your English day Start your day with listening to a radio station in English while having an English breakfast with ham and eggs or even sausages and enjoy a cup of tea while having a conversation with a friend who follows the same goal as you

Exercises: Change all your language setting at work, switch to English on your computer and your phone. Go to the English theater or cinema in your spare time, enjoy a Guinness in an Irish pub… Do everything possible to even start thinking English. Look at objects in your room and try to find the right term in order to enlarge your vocabulary knowledge.

Feel the flow –find your motivation Learning is a never-ending process, so hold on and stay tuned. Motivation is the best thing to start! When it comes to getting results, it takes motivation and ability Motivation makes things happen

Exercises Find a metaphor that fuels you. Maybe you’re the “The tree that grows.” Maybe you’re “in your element.” Whenever you do something for your English, link it to good feelings Use this routine in your daily routine and you will notice the force of habit and conditioning
