Students need to have an opinion, they are finding proof in the text that supports their opinion, and are able to explain why their evidence is important to the claim they are making. Math This month your child will be learning about place value and problem solving with units of measure. This includes time measurement, liquid volume in metric units, rounding to the nearest 10 and 100, two and three digit addition, and two and three digit subtraction. Core Knowledge The next core knowledge unit is on Ancient Roman civilization. They will learn about Rome, legends, the Roman Gods, the republic, The Punic Wars, daily Roman life, Julius Caesar, Augustus Caesar, the fall of the Roman Empire, and Rome’s lasting contributions. Important Dates: Oct. 2- 6th Fall Break Oct. 18th- Cookie dough pickup 2-5p.m. 19th- AAA # 1 Ends Oct. 20th- Harvest Carnival 5:30-7p.m. Oct. 20th- 26th Parent Teacher Conferences 27th- Nevada Day (No school) Birthdays: 8th- Nathan 8th- Vanessa 21st- Joseph 29th- Chase
