MEANING OF ENVIRONMENTAL POLLUTION The surroundings or conditions in which a person, animal, or plant lives or operates is called environment. The presence in or introduction into the environment of a substance or thing that has harmful or poisonous effects called environmental pollution.

TYPES OF ENVIRONMENTAL POLLUTION 1.PHYSICAL POLLUTION – Physical pollution is caused due to lowering of the quality of physical or abiotic components of the environment by human activities. Examples- Land Pollution, Water Pollution, Air Pollution etc.

TYPES OF ENVIRONMENTAL POLLUTION 2.SOCIAL POLLUTION This is caused due to negative behaviors, ideas, beliefs, unemployment, illiteracy, poverty of people. Examples: Crime, Juvenile Delinquency, Dowry System, Corruption, Communalism, Class Conflict , Casteism , Untouchability etc.

WHAT IS SOCEITY? SIMPLY “ SOCEITY IS A WEB OF SOCIAL RELATIONSHIP”. “ A SOCEITY IS A COLLECTION OF INDIVIDUALS UNITED BY CERTAIN RELATIONS OR MODE OF BEHAVIOUR WHICH MARK THEM OFF FROM OTHERS WHO DO NOT ENTER INTO THESE RELATIONS OR WHO DIFFER FROM THEM IN BEHAVIOR”. - MORRIS GINBERG. It is an artificial system formed by complex social relationships. It has a set of values and norms which help in maintaining harmonious relationships between members of the society and grant them full opportunity for development and enjoy decent way of life free from tyranny and exploitation.

WHAT IS SOCIAL POLLUTION? BEHAVIORS, IDEAS, BELEIFS THAT HAVE NEGATIVE CONSEQUENCES FOR SOCEITY AND INDIVIDUAL MEMBERS WITHOUT COMMENSURATE BENEFITS, ALL MEASURED STATISTICALLY OR ASSESED QUALITATIVELY.

STUDY OF SOCIAL POLLUTION… WHY? SOCIAL POLLUTION IS EVEN WORSE THAN PHYSICAL POLLUTION, SOCIAL POLLUTANTS ARE KILLING ALL OF US. It is as important as the study of physical pollution. We cannot clean the environment unless society is cleaned or proper awareness is created in the society to desist with old practices and traditions.

PRESENT SITUATION OF OUR SOCEITY……. IF WE LOOK AT DAILY NEWS PAPER OR TV CRIME, RAPE, SUICIDE, RIOTS ARE DAILY EVENT IN OUR COUNTRY AND WHICH MAKES OUR COUNTRY FALLS INTO THE WHIRLPOOLTHAT IS SUCKING ALL THE DECENY OUT OF ALL OF US. WITH NO DECENY THERE CAN BE NO PRIDE. SO IT IS VERY IMPORTANT TO DRAW ATTENTION ABOUT SOCIAL DEGRADATION OR SOCIAL POLLUTION IN THE PRESENT SITUATION OF OUR SOCEITY.
