Interesting facts about Ancient Egypt By Harry Walker

I have really enjoyed looking into the Ancient Egyptians and have discovered some amazing and interesting facts about how they lived and what they believe in. Please enjoy this presentation telling you about some of them.

The Scarab Beetle The scarab beetle is important to ancient Egyptians as they believed that when they bury their dung they are really burying the sun and when they roll up some more they are creating a new sun. The Egyptians believed they were like Gods.

Mummification I have learnt about what happened to ancient Egyptians after they died. The process is called mummification. The organs are removed and put into jars. The body is wrapped in bandages and put into a sarcophagus. They most horrible part is how the brain is removed b putting a stick up the nose, scrambling around and pulling it out! Yuk!

Hieroglyphics I learnt that the ancient Egyptians had special writing that they used. It is called Hieroglyphics. It is made up of pictures that represent letters. They were known as the 'word of God' mainly used by priests. You can read them from left to right or right to left depending which way the pictures are facing!

Cats and the ancient Egyptians My favourite fact about the ancient Egyptians is that they loved cats, as I love cats too. The ancient Egyptians believed that cats brought good luck and you can see in a lot of pictures they painted that cats are used a lot. Cats in ancient Egypt were known by the name 'Meu' and they are a sacred animal
