Monday, Nov. 20, 2017 Standard: 8.E.5A.2 Use the rock cycle model to describe the relationship between the processes and forces that create igneous, sedimentary, and metamorphic rocks. Objective: SWBAT explain the possible pathways of the rock cycle. Classwork: Checkpoint #4 Rock Cycle Game Stations Catch up Day or Video Clip due to class time 3rd and 4th- Complete 1-2 6th and 7th- Complete 1-4 Homework: Earth’ Structure, Minerals and Rock Cycle Test November 28 Stations due November 27, Project Grade

Rock Cycle Game 1. Write your name on the Rock Cycle handout. 2. Read the instructions below and wait to ask questions until I go over the handout. You will travel through the rock cycle 10 times and record your journey on the handout. Objective: Objective: SWBAT explain a rock’s pathway through the rock cycle and apply NASA’s use for studying rock samples Note the location of each station around the classroom- there are 5 stations Everyone is their own rock, therefore, you will travel on your own journey in the rock cycle Ex. If you are at the Igneous Stations are roll a (4), you will go to the Sediment station next 3. Once you are done filling out the chart, return to your seat and begin answering the reflection questions on the back of this handout.

Rock Cycle Reflection Questions 1. Did you get “stuck” in the rock cycle? If so, where? Stuck means did you stay at one station or at only one rock type. 2. Why might rocks get “stuck” there? 3. How does this model of the rock cycle DIFFER from the one pictured in the textbook on page 211? 4. What forces move rocks through the rock cycle? 5. This activity is credited to NASA, why would NASA study rock samples?
