The Blessing of Forgiveness Psalm 32:1-5 Psalm 32 is one of several Psalms attributed to David written after his sin with Bathsheba 2 Samuel 11, 12

From the account of David’s sin with Bathsheba, we learn that sin: Produces guilt, Psalm 51:3 Makes us feel unclean, Psalm 51:2, 7 Makes us feel broken, Psalm 51:8 Separates us from God, Psalm 51:11 (cf. Is. 59:1f) Brings punishment. Death of his child, 2 Samuel 12:5, 14f Loss of peace, 2 Samuel 12:10 Loss of his honor, 2 Samuel 12:11

The Blessing of Forgiveness of Sin The word “blessed” means happy. Strong’s H835, G3107 The words are translated as “blessed” and “happy.” This state of being blessed is deep and lasting and not affected by circumstances, Matthew 5:3-12.

Why such great happiness? Cleansing, Acts 22:16, Ephesians 5:26 Deliverance, Colossians 1:13 Receipt of a gift, Ephesians 2:8-9, Romans 6:23 A gift of immense value, 1 Peter 1:18-19, Matthew 16:26 Adoption, Romans 8:14-16 Healing, Mark 2:17, Isaiah 53:5 Reconciliation, 2 Corinthians 5:17-19 How do we reach this blessed state of being forgiven?
