The brain

What it does. Your brain is more powerful, more complex and more clever than any computer ever built. It is constantly dealing with hundreds of messages from the world around you, and from your body, and telling your body what to do. The spinal cord carries messages to and from the arms, legs and trunk.

Some facts on the human brain. Do you know that your brain has around 100 billion nerve cells. The front of the human brain is larger than any other animal’s ,even the dinosaur’s. The left of the brain is usually better at problem solving ,maths and writing. The right side of the brain is creative and help’s you to be good at art or music.

The heart

What it does The walls of the heart are made of really strong muscles that squeeze and relax to pump to pump blood around the body. It does this 90 times a minute if you’re a child and 70 times a minute if you are an adult. Your blood is pumped all around your body and gets back to your heart in about a minute.

Facts on the heart The more education you have, the lower your risk of heart disease. The first cell starts to beat as early as 4 weeks. Heart disease has been found 3,000-year-old mummies. It beats 100,000 times a day. The beating sound is the clap of valve leafleats opening and closing.
