Republican Presidents (Harding) Warren Harding Republican President from 1921-1923 Ran on a Campaign of “Return to Normalcy” Greater emphasis on maintain prosperity at home and a less ambition on foreign policy.

Republican Presidents (Harding) Harding Domestic Policies Increased Tariff Passed the Ford-McCumber Act which increased the Tariff to 38.5% He believed it would protect American Manufacturing The increased in Tariff caused trade issues between the U.S. and other countries. Lower Taxes on the Wealthy Lowered the taxes on Wealthy because he believed they would reinvest money into American manufacturing Lax Enforcement of Business Regulation Harding didn’t remove business laws he just didn’t enforce them.

Republican Presidents (Harding) Restriction on Immigration Emergency Quota Act of 1921 Restricted the number of immigrates that could enter in any one year to 350,000 U.S. attempted to restrict immigration from Southern and Eastern Europe.

Germany would pay reparations to England and France England and France would use payments from Germany to pay back debts owed to the U.S.
