UAlbany Compliance Corner Finals and Practice Hours December 2017 Edition ARMS Tip Before submitting your practice logs remember to review the Compliance Check to make sure that there are no errors. The Compliance Check can be viewed at the top of your Playing Season page which is found under your Team tab. If the Compliance Check is green there are no errors with your logs but if it appears yellow than there are errors. The weeks with errors will be designated with a yellow triangle to the right of them. Clicking on the triangle will let you view the issues. Finals and Practice Hours For all out of season teams, all practice activities must end 1 week prior to the start of finals. That means, December 5th is the last day to have CARA. Students may still engage in voluntary practice activities if they wish. Compliance Trivia The UAlbany Football team is actively recruiting Jaqen H’ghar. Albany will be issuing Jaqen an NLI during the December signing period. During a visit to Jaqen’s house the week before the signing period, an assistant coach hand’s Jaqen’s mother an express mail envelope that includes the NLI, GIA, admissions application & a questionnaire for the SID. The assistant coach included a return express label for Jaqen to send the materials back to Albany. Jaqen and his parents signed the NLI and GIA and mailed them back to Albany, with the completed questionnaire, on the initial signing date. Jaqen visited Albany on an official visit the following Friday and Saturday. Albany announced Jaqen’s attendance at the home basketball game. Jaqen participated in Albany’s post-game radio show. Jaqen received a medical exam by the team doctor. Prior to departing campus, Jaqen received a workout plan from the strength coach & a t-shirt, shorts and sneakers from the equipment manager. Eligibility Center Reminder Holiday Cards Upcoming NLI Signing Eligibility Center Reminder Following the completion of the Fall semester, please remember to remind your recruits to have their high school(s) send their most current transcript to the NCAA Eligibility Center. This will allow recruits the opportunity to obtain early certification as a Qualifier and will also help to speed up the certification process come summer. Upcoming NLI Signing Period Please submit all requests through ARMS using the initial GIA for 1st year SA form. Sport Initial Signing Date Final Signing Date Football (Early Period) 12/20/2017 12/22/2017 Football (Midyear JC Transfer) 1/15/2018 Holiday Cards It is permissible to send a holiday card to a PSA but remember general correspondence legislation applies. Cards can only be sent to PSA’s after September 1st of their junior year and they cannot be bigger than 8.5” x 11” when fully opened, while envelopes may not exceed 9” x 12”. The cards cannot be purchased from a store. Textbook Return Policy Please remind all of your student-athletes who are on book scholarships to return their books to the bookstore prior to the end of finals.
