Research and networking: Learn about individual companies, roles and fields through targeted industry research and networking. Self-marketing: Create individualized resumes, cover letters and interview skills that demonstrate the match between experience and the position. Decision-making: Clarify priorities to assess and respond to offers and choose options that meet identified needs. Search Strategies Search for jobs/internships that are posted on websites. Conversation Starters for You Encourage your student to think more deeply about themselves: What classes or subject areas fascinate and absorb you? As you think about the future, what is most important to you? What careers have you considered that continue to pique your interest? If you won the lottery, what might you do (after initial celebration, travel, etc.)? What is the most gratifying thing you have accomplished? What would you go out and do if you knew you would not fail? Since you arrived at Brandeis, what new skills have you learned that you might enjoy applying in the workplace? Have you started to think about your goals and dreams? Short-term? long-term?
