National Emblems of Nepal

Introduction of Nepal -Nepal is located between longitude 800 4’ and 88012' and between latitude 26022' and 30027'. -It borders the Peoples Republic of China in the north and India in the east, south and west. -Topographically the country is divided into three bands running the full breadth and comprising the Terai (Southern plains), the Mid–Hills and the Mountains. -These are further sub–divided into 14 ones, 75 districts, 58 municipalities and 3914 Village Development Communities.

National Flower (Lali Guransh ) The Rhododendron Arboreum (Lali Gurans (nfln u'F/fz_in Nepali) is the most famous and attractive amongst over 30 species of rhododendrons found in the hills of Nepal. The Lali Gurans, with its beautiful bell–shaped flowers, is widely distributed. It is, due to its beautifulness, considered as National Flower of our Country.

National Weapon (Khukuri) Khukuri (v's'/L) is the national knife of Nepal, originating in ancient times. It is a medium–length curved knife. Each Gurkha soldier carries with him in uniform in battle. With the help of this Khukuri, Gorkha soldier won the many battles as well .

National Colour (crimson) Crimson (Simrik (l;D/Ls_ in Nepali), the national colour is considered very auspicious and has a significant place in Nepalese culture. It also has a symbolic connotation for Hindus, signifying good luck and fortune.

National Animal (cow) The cow (ufO{), Nepal's national animal, is highly revered by Hindus all over the world. Hindu mythology refers to the cow as 'Gau Mata' giving her a human face to a mother. It is in this light that the Nepalese worship the cow.

National Bird (danphe) Nepal's national bird, the lophophorus (Danphe (8“fkm])in Nepali) is one of the most beautiful birds, found in the kingdom. In Hindu mythological accounts, its described as a guide to Lord Mahadev (Lord Shiva), who dwelled in the Himalayans. Listed as an endangered species, this most exotic of all pheasants inhabits high elevations of the Himalayan range.

National Food (dhindo & gundruk) The national food of Nepal is Gundrook and Dhido. It is a sugar–free dish made up of wheat, maize and dried green vegetable. The food is high on nutrition level and satisfies the taste buds as well.

National Emblem of Nepal The National Emblem of Nepal was changed during the reconciliation period following the Nepalese Civil War, on 30 December 2006, a new coat of arms was introduced. It contains the flag of Nepal, Mount Everest, green hills symbolizing the hilly symbolizing the hilly regions of Nepal and yellow colour symbolizing the fertile region, male and female hands joining to symbolize gender equality, and a garland of rhododendrons (the national flower). A top this is a white silhouette in the shape of Nepal. At the base of the design a red scroll carries the national motto in Sanskrit: hggL hGde"ldZr :juf{blk ul/o;L which translates as "The mother and the motherland are greater than heaven".

National Flag The national flag of Nepal (Nepali: g]kfnsf] em08f) is the world's only national flag that is non–quadrilateral in shape. Until 1992, the flag's emblems, the sun and the crescent moon, had human faces. They were removed to modernize the flag. The faces removed o n the sun and the moon on the Royal standard until the abolition of the monarchy in 2008.

National Game Dandi Biyo (Nepali: डन्डी बियो) is a game usually played in rural Nepal and is the national game. Dandi Biyo is played with a stick (Dandi) about two feet long and a wooden pin (Biyo) about six inches long. The pin is a small wooden stick with pointed ends.
