Maintain sanctity of National Flag

Significance of the National Flag (Tricolor) 1. The National Flag (flag) is a symbol of Nation's respect and pride. 2. The Tricolor represents the hopes and aspirations of the people of India. 3. The National Flag kindles national spirit in its citizens.

Significance of our Tricolor Symbol of Implied Meaning SAFFRON Denotes renunciation or disinterestedness. Our leaders must be indefferent to material gains & dedicate themselves to their work. WHITE Denotes light The path of Truth to guide our conduct. GREEN Shows our relation to the soil Shows our relation to the plant life here on which all other life depends. ASHOKA CHAKRA Wheel of the law of Dharma Satya / Truth, Dharma / Righteousness ought to be the controlling principle of those who work under this flag.

Some of our valiant freedom fighters! Pre-independence Scenario : Freedom fighters valued the National flag over their life. Freedom fighters died with the Tricolor in their hands. Several died with the Tricolor held close to their heart without letting it slip or fall from their hands till their death. Some of our valiant freedom fighters!

Is this true patriotism ? Post-Independence scenario Every year on 15th August and 26th January, people happily purchase national flags, but the same flags are found on the roads next day either in a dustbin or in a trampled condition. Indians wave hundreds of flags in a wayward manner for every goal scored during a hockey game or for every boundary hit by a batsman or when a rival team player gets out. In 2005, the national flag of Bharat was hoisted upside down at Dambula (Sri Lanka) during a cricket match between India and Sri Lanka. Is this true patriotism ?

There is a new trend of selling flags made of paper and plastic. Naked Truth of disrespect shown to Flag by Indians on Indepedence Day & Republic Day There is a new trend of selling flags made of paper and plastic. Is this Right? These photos are posted for creating awareness and not hurting sentiments by any means.

The Flag Code of India Flag Code of India, 2002, has been divided into three parts : Part I - General description of the National Flag. Part II - The display of the National Flag by members of public, private organizations, educational institutions, etc. Part III - Display of the National Flag by Central and State governments and their organisations and agencies. What can I do to prevent insult to our National Flag ? Be Proactive: In order to prevent any of the aforementioned untoward incidents, you can circulate this information among your friends, relatives. Collect spoilt flags and respectfully dispose them by burning or burial (as per the Flag code of India). 3. Circulate the information to schools by putting these dos and donts on their notice boards. 4. Try & educate maximum number of people you come in contact with and fulfill your duty towards the motherland. 5. Form a group in order to educate people on this issue and prevent disrespect of flag. 6. Inform us about your action and send the photos, so we can post those in this section to set an example.

Respect the National Flag Campaign – What is HJS doing ?

Ban on plastic flags is one of the major demands. The Samiti has met the Chief Minister of some of the states in India and has demanded that strict action be taken in cases of insult to the National Flag. The Samiti has also arranged to keep Flag collection boxes at different places in many cities to collect Flags on the Independence/Republic Days. These collected Flags will be respectfully disposed by burning or burial as per Flag Code of India, 2002. The Samiti has also appealed to people through the newspapers to implement the above measures.

“Janani Janma Bhoomischa Swargadapi gariyasi” O fellow Indians, Wake up! May our Tricolor always fly high! Let all our actions be directed to making our India strong & prosperous! Jai Hind!
