Packaging Yourself (non-competitive aid)- Derrick Apply Early (Feb. 15th) Accurately complete FAFSA to the best estimation (if taxes aren’t done yet) Check your accounts often! 4-years usually automatically package awards, students must check their accounts to accept/decline awards or you may lose them Students must check the email you put on your FAFSA to accept/decline state awards (including delegate/senatorial awards). Be sure to accept any institutional monies, even smaller $500’ish awards, they add up. Be aware of residency requirements for out-of-state schools. Be aware that full-time may be 12-15 credits for the same price.

Goals -Derrick Have realistic goals Have a backup plan How long will this major take me on top of my community college credits Will I commute or live on campus (parking?). Can I make it to my classes on time? Do I have the funding needed for this program, how much is it?! Have a backup plan What if I don’t get in, or what if I am deferred a semester. Look at different financial packages, what if your second choice offers a much better package?
