The school life of the students can start from the age of 2 The school life of the students can start from the age of 2.5 years (pre- school education) in (private and public) kindergartens . In some kindergartens there are also nursery classes which operate along with them.

Attendance at Primary Education in Greece lasts for six years, and children are admitted at the age of 6. Along with the regular kindergartens and the Primary Education , All-day Primary Schools are in operation, with an extended timetable and an enriched Curriculum.

1) to stop education altogether Once students finish Junior High School at the age of 15 the Law offers them three options: 1) to stop education altogether 2) to continue education and attend a Technical Vocational High School 3) to continue education and attend a Senior High school ( Lyceum )

Technical Vocational Schools specialise in various sciences and technical subjects .Only cities and big towns have Technical Vocational High Schools.

Along with the mainstream schools of Primary and Secondary Education there are schools which admit students with special educational needs. Musical , Ecclesiastical and Physical Education Junior High schools and Senior High Schools are also in operation.
Students in Junior High school and in Senior High school take examinations in the subjects they are studying at the end of the school year in June as well as continuous assessments during the course.
3) HIGHER EDUCATION When students finish High school , if the want to continue their studies , they take National Level Examinations. If they get good marks they enter the University or a Technical Institute. The better marks they get , the more chances they have to study what they really like.

Greek Public Higher Education Public higher education in Greece is divided into Universities and Technical Education Institutes (TEI) Students are admitted to these Institutes according to their performance at national level examinations taking place at the second and third grade of Lykeio. Additionally, students are admitted to the Hellenic or Greek Open University upon the completion of the 22 year of age by drawing lots.
