1. Open up the ScratchJr app
You should now see this loading screen
2. Open a new project
You should now see this screen
3. Click on the background icon at the top of the screen (circled in red)
You should now see this screen
4. Double click on the Savannah background
Your screen should now look like this
5. Click on the add character button
Your screen should look like this
6. Double click your preferred animal
Your screen should look like this
7. Press and hold the cat character
Your screen will look like this
8. Click the red X to delete the cat
Your screen should look like this
9. Drag and drop the giraffe onto the edge of the screen
Then click the ‘start’ icon (2)
10. Drag the green start tile onto the white section below
Your screen should look like this
11. Click on the blue ‘movement’ icon
Drag the forward tile onto the white section below and ‘click’ it with the start tile NOTE: You can change the number of forward movements the object takes by clicking the number ‘1’ and typing the new number in (see photo)
12. Click the purple ‘actions’ icon
Drag the speech tile onto the white section below
13. Click on the writing and type what you want the character to say

14. Click on the orange ‘timing’ tile
Drag the ‘wait’ tile onto the white section below NOTE: You can change the timing of the pause by clicking the number ‘1’ and typing the new number in (see photo)
15. Click on the purple ‘actions’ icon
Drag another speech tile onto the white section and congratulate the player
16. Then write an farewell note in another speech tile
You can add as many as you like
17. Click on the blue ‘movement’ icon again
Drag a forward tile onto the white section below NOTE: Remember to change the number of the forward movement so the character walks off the page (see photo)
18. Click on the purple ‘actions’ icon and drag the ‘hide’ tile onto the white section
19. Click on the ‘new slide’ icon
Remember to change the back ground and character for your new slide
20. Go back to the first slide and click on the red ‘endings’ icon
Drag the ending tile that has a small picture of the second slide on it onto the white section
21. To play your activity press the green start button at the beginning of your chain of commands on the white section
22. To put the activity into full screen mode click the full screen icon at the top of the screen
You will now see the green play icon in the top right hand corner of the screen
