Sales Training A corrosion monitoring program provides comprehensive monitoring of all critical components of industrial objects, assets, facilities and plants for signs of corrosion. For reliable operation it is important to identify the location, rate, and underlying causes of corrosion. A corrosion monitoring program identifies any non-conforming alloy components, as these are generally susceptible to accelerated corrosion and can give relatively frequent cause for catastrophic failure. Corrosion Monitoring can provide significant advantages when integrated into both preventative maintenance and the processes inherent to safety management programs. Based on the results of the Corrosion Monitoring program, informed decisions can be made, not only regarding the remaining life of the object affected by corrosion but also regarding life extension strategies, prospective material selection, and cost-effective methods for remedy of corrosion issues and problems

Sales Training Corrosion is a major problem in many industries, particularly in the petrochemical industry. Corrosion is one of the most serious ageing mechanisms impacting the equipment and assets of refineries and plants. Uncontrolled corrosion can cause leaks and component failures, bringing about a reduction in both the performance and reliability of important equipment. In extreme cases, corrosion can lead to unexpected failures that can be costly in terms of repair costs, environmental damage and potential harm to humans “GTP” Corrosion Coupon Rack can provide significant advantages when integrated into both preventative maintenance and the processes inherent to safety management programs. Based on the results, informed decisions can be made, not only regarding the remaining life of the object affected by corrosion but also regarding life extension strategies, prospective material selection, and cost-effective methods for remedy of corrosion issues and problems. Rust is the most commonly known form of corrosion. The term “RUST” is applied to red oxides, formed by the reaction of iron and oxygen in the presence of water or air moisture. Galvanic corrosion of aluminum. A 67-cm-thick Aluminum alloy plate is physically connected to a 10-mm-thick mild steel structural support. Galvanic corrosion occurred on the Aluminum plate along the joint with the steel.

Sales Training In 2002, the US Federal Highway Administration released a study titled "Corrosion Costs and Preventive Strategies in the United States" on the direct costs associated with metallic corrosion in the US industry. In 1998, the total annual direct cost of corrosion in the U.S. was ca. $276 billion (CA 3.2% of the US gross domestic). Broken down into five specific industries, the economic losses are $22.6 billion in infrastructure; $17.6 billion in production and manufacturing; $29.7 billion in transportation; $20.1 billion in government; and $47.9 billion in utilities Rust is one of the most common causes of bridge accidents. As rust has a much higher volume than the originating mass of iron, its build-up can also cause failure by forcing apart adjacent parts. It was the cause of the collapse of the Manius river bridge in 1983, when the bearings rusted internally and pushed one corner of the road slab off its support. Three drivers on the roadway at the time died as the slab fell into the river below. The following NTSB investigation showed that a drain in the road had been blocked for road re-surfacing, and had not been unblocked; as a result, runoff water penetrated the support hangers. Rust was also an important factor in the Silver Bridge disaster of 1967 in West Virginia, when a steel suspension bridge collapsed within a minute, killing 46 drivers and passengers on the bridge at the time.

Sales Training Getting started, Information you will need to know to sell and quote: (or see on-line form located on product page for more information) Need to know: Number of coupons Material of construction Line Size Temperature Pressure Options (IE: flow control valves, sample valves, bowl strainer, etc. see pricing) Or Manufacturer and Model we are bidding against.

Sales Training Model Number: PCR307/FI10-SVB Once we have the needed information, let’s work on a model number. Base Model & Material: PCR = PVC Piping CPCR = CPVC Piping CSCR = Carbon Steel Piping SSCR = Stainless Steel Piping Note: PCR & CPCR Coupon Racks have CPVC Coupon Holders. CSCR & SSCR coupon racks have PVDF Coupon Holders.

Sales Training Model Number: PCR307/FI10-SVB Number of Coupons: 1 = One coupon holder 2 = Two coupon holders 3 = Three coupon Holders 4 = Four coupon holders 5 = Five coupon holders 6 = Six coupon holders

Sales Training Model Number: PCR307/FI10-SVB Line Size: 07 = ¾” Piping Options: CLR = Clear piping segments SVx = Sample valves (P = PVC, B = Brass) YSx = Y-Strainer (P = PVC, CI = Cast Iron) BSP = Bowl Strainer, Polypropylene FI10 = Flow Indicator, 0-10GPM FIA10 = Flow Indicator with adjustment valve FCx = Flow Control Valve (03 = 3GPM, 05 = 5GPM) SFI125 = Sight Flow Indicator, Brass, 125PSI

Receiving & Inspection Upon receipt of order, inspect package thoroughly. In the event there was damage incurred in transit you must notify the freight company within 3-5 days of receipt of order. Once system is inspected for damage and received in good condition, and store indoors in safe place until installing. Damaged incurred before installation is not covered under warranty. Housing and Backboard Coupon Holders Sample ID Tags Isolation Valves

Installation & Operation Before you get started… All fasteners and fitting should be properly inspected and secured before operation as they may be loosened in transit Personnel safety practices should apply at all times Safety glasses or face shields and gloves should be worn Do not service glycol feed package with out disconnecting power Close isolation valve and release pressure before servicing any components on the system All liquids in system should be drained before servicing Glycol feed package should be installed by qualified personnel.

Installation & Operation Although there is no electrical, environment may change the results of the sample corrosion rate. Excessive exposure to sunlight, weather or other exposure can result in changes in corrosion rate. Once location is decided on, coupon rack need to be securely mounted to wall studs using wall mount brackets provided (pictured). Be sure that anchoring bolts comply with local building codes. It is best to run coupon rack on new systems for approximately one week. All new piping systems have residual chemicals, oils, etc. that need to be flushed out before starting sample corrosion testing. After initial flushing, close isolation valves and install corrosion samples. Before opening isolation valves and starting corrosion testing is sure to note sample material and installation date on tags provided. Wall Mount Brackets Included

Installation & Operation CONNECTING TO SYSTEM: Corrosion coupon racks should be installed within 10 to 30 feet of system. Flow should be from bottom to top to eliminate trapped air. Coupon rack flow should have similar characteristics as system flow rate (in feet per second). Corrosion rate can be increased by erosion. Optional flow control valves are available upon request. Outlet Inlet

Installation & Operation ADJUSTING THE FLOW INDICATOR The flow indictor (optional) can be adjusted by regulating the inlet and outlet isolation valves. When client tampering is present, the valve handle can be removed. The flow indicator option may be purchased with an adjustable valve (pictured). By restricting the flow through the coupon rack the sediment/particulate in the system will not erode the sample coupon. Flow Rate Adjustment Knob

Installation & Operation Pacific Sensor Inc. 11303 Slater Ave. Fountain Valley, CA 92708 Phone 714-435-0424 Fax 714-435-1344 Installation & Operation TESTING AND EVALUATION Once duration for testing has expired (determined by others) isolate coupon rack and remove samples.
