Science Project By:Mischa. Element An element is a substance from an atom. Example: Hydrogen is our example element. Hydrogen is made up of one proton.
 The atoms of all elements are made up of a central nucleus with orbiting electrons. ◦ A nucleus is made up of positively charged PROTONS and neutral.

Thursday November 3, 2011 Objective: You will know about the discovery and uses of an element from the periodic table.

First Order of Business… Element models are due today!!! You must turn in : 1. Your model 2. A drawing showing the amount and location of the protons, neutrons, and electrons 3. The answers to the three wrap-up questions (in complete sentences)

Model Wrap-Up Questions Which element did you choose for your project? How many protons, neutrons, and electrons make up the atom? In your model, what did you use to represent the protons, neutrons, and electrons?

For your listening enjoyment… YouTube clips about the elements: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Uy0m7jnyv6U http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lDp9hUf_SV8 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zGM-wSKFBpo http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cAnOUwPfHlk

Your poster must include: For Today… You will create an informative poster that displays information about the element you researched in the computer lab. Your poster must include: 1. The element name, symbol, and atomic number 2. Who discovered it and when 3. 3 uses for the element 4. Two other facts about the element (what it looks like, where it is found, where it was first discovered or used) 5. Where you got your information 6. The poster must be in color and include at least two pictures showing a sample of the element or some of the uses for the element

Spelling is a factor in how the poster looks!!! Grades for Poster Poster is worth 25 points Poster content is worth 15 points How the poster looks is worth 10 points Spelling is a factor in how the poster looks!!!
