Pig genome engineering for tomorrow’s medicine Faculty of Medical and Veterinary Sciences Where: Medical School, E29 Pig genome engineering for tomorrow’s medicine When: Wednesday, June 4th, afternoon All welcome 2:00pm: Prof. Akira Onishi National Institute of Agrobiological Sciences, Tsukuba, Japan “Genome engineered pigs for biomedicine” 2:45pm: Prof. Takaaki Kobayashi Nagoya University, Nagoya, Japan “Current status and surmountable problems Pig clone, Xena Onishi, Science, 2000 of xenotransplantation” Professor Onishi has pioneered pig cloning, transgenesis and gene targeting, and recently generated SCID pigs (Cell Stem Cell), which he will describe, with its applications. Professor Kobayashi will describe the clinical challenges of xenotransplantation. Talks will be followed at 3:30pm by a discussion.
