Purpose To inform Service members of the entitlement of separation pay. To Monetarily assist certain involuntary separating members.

Types of Separation Pay Full Separation pay Half Separation pay

Full Separation Pay Eligibility Separation must be involuntary and honorable. Completed 6 but no more than 20 years of active service. Full Separation pay Eligibility Cont. Reserve members must have completed 6 years of continuous active service immediately preceding separation. Agree to Serve 3 years in the Selective Reserve or individual ready reserve. Advancement and Retention Eligible.

Half Separation Pay Reasons Not Retention Eligible. Medical condition not eligible for disability. (Under Convenience of the Government Sep) Separation for Weight control failure. Full ISP: 10 Percent of years of service, and 12 times the monthly basic pay at time of discharge (0.10 x Years of service x 12 months x monthly basic pay) Half ISP: One-half the rate in the calculation of full pay above (0.05 x years of service x 12 months x monthly basic pay).
