With the signing of the America Invents Act into law by President Obama in 2011, the USPTO moved forward with the establishment of at least three satellite offices. The first of the new offices opened in Detroit in 2012. http://www.uspto.gov/about-us/uspto-office-locations

Rocky Mountain Regional Office Byron G. Rogers Federal Building – 1961 Stout Street, Denver, CO 80294 Employees: 55 Patent Examiners 12 Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB) judges 18 Management/Staff Office Hours: 8:30 am - 5:00 pm Services Public Search Facility Available from 9:00am - 4:30 pm Examiner Interview Room Hearing Room Public Meeting Space Our region boasts a mere 825,000 square miles of territory; 33 Native American reservations, and the Rocky Mountain region boasts 6 out the top 10 states for Startups, as identified by the Kauffman Foundation in 2015 We were fully staffed in 2016 but, as our examiners became qualified for hoteling programs, they have elected to hotel in many instances. Thus, the Denver office will be looking to hire and train a new class of examiners; hopefully, in fiscal year 2017 but much depends on the directives of the Trump administration.
