Panchavati Rural Development Society e-literacy Program For Rural Children

1. The Need

Computer became commodity rather than luxury Many Government schemes are becoming pro-digital But there is a dearth of e-Literacy education programs in Government Schools No infrastructure to support e-Literacy in Government schools This pushes them into a vicious cycle, forcing to remain as part of Bottom of Pyramid.

2. The Plan

Our Vision Transform rural areas into digitally empowered societies Our Mission To provide affordable computer education in 100 villages in Telangana by 2020

Currently planned locations are 3 districts in Telangana State Setup computer centres at strategic locations to help students get hands-on experience Alongside, enhance students’ English communication & impart Life skills. Expand to 50 Government schools in other districts in Telangana by 2017-18

3. Achievements

Achievements So Far The project is selected under the category “Best Ideas” competition in the year 2011-2016 under the “Education Innovations” organized by Sri Aurobindo Society, The Sparkrise of Mahendra group & N/Core-Nudge Foundation etc.. The society has impacted in 2016-17 , 2049+ children become a e-literate covering from 10 Government High Schools & 2 Primary Schools from 6 Mandals in 3 districts The impact is such that at least 10% of the children from 6th to 10th classes are willing to under go for a certification course on computer skills on affordable fee.

4. Future Plans

Set up computer centres at strategic locations where the number of poor people is more Charge a minimal fee of 100 -300 rupees per month Future Plans Usage of interactive tools like photos, videos for easy understanding Revenues from all the centres will be pooled in for further expansion

Corporate Support Companies can adopt a village under their CSR activities and sponsor the schools in that village
