NEA Foundation Student Achievement Grant (Access to Educational Websites) Final Report Presentation
Within the our county office of education, our classes for students with moderate to severe needs use the web-based Unique Learning System for their ELA curriculum, both in print & with our SMARTBoards. Access to the educational websites BrainPop & Starfall allow our teachers to expand & explore the topics within our curriculum, current events & topics that are personally relevant to the students’ lives. The NEA Student Achievement Grant allowed us to purchase multiyear, schoolwide licenses for 40 of our teachers & their students.
In this presentation, you will see: Teacher-made interactive calendars, created in SMART Notebook with links to the BrainPop or BrainPop Jr. website to expand on monthly topics to use with students with moderate to severe disabilities Elementary & Secondary special needs students using the BrainPop website to expand knowledge on current events, thematic topics & personal interests. An elementary lesson plan created in SMART Notebook, integrating the current ELA curriculum & links to BrainPop to expand on the lesson topic. Elementary special needs students accessing content on Starfall for calendar topics, foundational skills, and specific IEP goals. Pictures of Thank You cards from students using the BrainPop & Starfall educational websites daily to further their education.
