Also, the shading and bypass diode effects can be analysed with the assumption that the bypass diode voltage drop is constant as mentioned in [2]. The GUI provides for an interactive way to study and visualize the PV-IV curves; as well as to take informed decisions for designing optimal number of cells per bypass diode. Motivation: To create a simple to use interface for generating P-V and I-V curves for a photovoltaic module/cell at different ambient irradiance and temperature values To have a tool for simple shading analysis and computing the effect bypass diodes Introduction: The current equation of a photovoltaic cell is given by the following equation; Solving the above equation is not straight forward as it is an implicit equation which is required to be solved iteratively to arrive at the solution. Moreover, the values of Rp, Rs and Io is not known prior to experiments. Hence, we have used a solution model proposed in [1] which utilises the three points on the IV curve of photovoltaic module, present in their datasheet i.e. short circuit current, open circuit voltage and maximum power point. This has been converted into a MATLAB GUI as shown in Fig. 1. Developed GUI: Fig. 3: I-V P-V Curves at Different Irradiances (200, 400, 600, 800 and 1000 W/m2).
